Synopsis

In a world ravaged by wars (between France, Austria and Italy) and an epidemic of cholera, in 1832, two strangers--a beautiful countess searching for her husband and a handsome rebel who, for political reasons, is being hunted by Austrian assassins--discover that their only chance for survival is each other. Based on a novel by Jean Giono. A grand epic and romanesque movie.
